Headline Details: This is a triple cubesat spacecraft. The mission objective for the Radio Aurora Explorer (RAX) is to study magnetic field-aligned irregularities (FAI). FAI are ionospheric anomalies known to cause scintillation of ground-to-space transmissions, disrupting satellite tracking and communication capabilities. Understanding the microphysics behind FAI formation will enable space weather scientists to create prediction models and provide forecasts for satellite operators worldwide. The team is requesting a simplex frequency on UHF and also proposes a spread spectrum transceiver on S Band. Expecting to launch into 650km 78 degree inclination orbit from Kodiak in Alaska in May 2010. More information is available at http://rax.engin.umich.edu.
